Flying Doctor Dental Clinic
Good oral health is fundamental to our overall health and wellbeing. Poor oral health is linked to infections and chronic disease and can have a significant impact on both health and quality of life.
Oral disease is largely preventable through access and regular visits to a dental practitioner, however, people living and working in rural and remote areas are disproportionately affected by problems associated with poor oral health.
In 2012, RFDS Victoria launched its Flying Doctor Dental Clinic, offering screenings and treatments at fixed clinics. Then, in 2016, we went a step further to make dental care more accessible to all by launching our first mobile dental truck. As a result, we were able to bring full service dental treatments to rural and remote Victorian towns, with our team of dentists, dental assistants and oral health therapists ensuring all Victorians can easily access free dental care in their own community.
Today, this service operates in partnership with Dental Health Services Victoria (DHSV) and Australian Dental Association Victorian Branch (ADAVB), with our regular fixed dental clinic in Omeo possible thanks to our partnership with Omeo District Health.
