Community Transport - Heathcote
The Flying Doctor Community Transport service enables residents of Heathcote, Rochester and surrounds to easily access health appointments and social group activities – without the expensive taxi ride.
Maggie and Grant are Heathcote locals. While they both love the town and the community, they understand first hand how difficult it can be to live in a small town with limited health resources when you require specialist care.
Peter is one of many dedicated volunteer drivers with the Flying Doctor's Community Transport service. A few days a week, he will pick up people in the Heathcote area, and drive them to their appointments, completely free of charge.
This service is one of the ways the Flying Doctor is working not only to improve the physical and mental health of rural Victorians, but to enhance social connections as well.
