Base to Bush

Join us in making strides for mental health in the bush!

Royal Flying Doctor Service Victoria is thrilled to announce the creation of a new, online virtual challenge in support of our Wellbeing program: Base to Bush.

With COVID-19, and its related requirement to physically distance, rendering many of our traditional events impossible for the moment, we have created a new, virtual way for our supporters to connect with each other, better their own physical and mental health and support the vital work of our Wellbeing team at the same time.

Over a six-week period of your choosing, we’re asking Flying Doctor supporters to walk, run or cycle the distance from our RFDS Airbase at Essendon to one of  three communities who are serviced by Flying Doctor Wellbeing. There are a number of different distances on offer, with the option of signing up as an individual participant, or as part of a team.

By taking part, you’re helping us extend the free, in-person or telehealth mental health support we provide to people in rural and remote Victoria. In tackling a distance of your choosing, you enable us to bridge the distances that so often prevent Victorians from accessing the support they need.

At this stage fundraising income does not fund the Wellbeing program. Perhaps better to say something like “You could help us extend the support we provide”

To find out more, sign up and download resources to help us promote the challenge, please visit: basetobush.groundcrew.org.au

You can also show your support by adding our custom Base to Bush Facebook frame to your profile picture on Facebook. Just search "RFDS Base to Bush" in Facebook frames to find it!
